Supporting Organ Donation Week
This week marks Organ Donation Week, a moment for all of us to reflect on the extraordinary gift of life that organ donation represents. Across the UK, thousands of people are waiting for a transplant—men, women, and children whose futures depend on the generosity of others.
One donor can save or transform up to nine lives. Behind every statistic is a family hoping for a second chance for their loved one. By choosing to donate, we give that hope.
Since the law changed to an opt-out system, more lives are already being saved. But families still play a vital role in the final decision, which is why it’s so important to talk openly with your loved ones about your wishes. Having that conversation today can bring clarity and comfort tomorrow.
As your elected representative, I am proud to support Organ Donation Week. It’s a reminder that small actions—signing the register, sharing your decision, raising awareness—can make the biggest difference.
I encourage everyone to take a moment to:
Check you are on the Organ Donor Register
Talk to your family about your decision
Share the message with friends and colleagues
Together, we can help ensure that no one misses out on the life-saving gift of an organ transplant.
