I’ve been clear in my view councillors shouldn’t be in a position where we decide our own pay increases. That’s why I support index linking, ensuring any changes are fair, transparent, and not influenced by those making the decision.
At a time when we are seeing staff changes and significant cuts, I also believe it’s only right that members’ SRA allowances are frozen for the next three years. Leadership means showing restraint when others are being asked to do the same.
The Independent Remuneration Panel (IRP) report provides important insight, and I believe its comments should be properly considered as part of the committee review. That’s just common sense.
This is about fairness, accountability, and doing the right thing. 😊
