Hate Will Not Define Us
It’s sad, but not surprising, to see far-right protests descend into violence once again—this time targeting not only police officers but also innocent members of the public. What makes it even worse is the wave of misinformation spreading online. Doctored images, including Jubilee photos falsely repurposed to depict these gatherings, are being shared to stir outrage and confusion.
Whatever you think of The Queen, there’s no denying that she represented dignity and unity. She would be turning in her grave to see her image and legacy manipulated in such a cynical way.
Adding fuel to the fire are American disruptors, who actively incite hate and violence across borders. Even more disturbing are the individuals here who choose to make a living by sowing division, anger, and chaos. It’s hard to comprehend how anyone can dedicate themselves to tearing apart the very society they live in.
The sight of neo-Nazi banners unfurled in our streets is sickening. Thugs, cloaked in the Union Jack, vandalising our cities, claim to be “defending Britain.” Yet their actions dishonour the sacrifices of the soldiers who fought and died to protect this country from fascism. If those soldiers could see what’s happening today, what would they think?
And yet—amid all the ugliness—there is hope. The overwhelming majority of people in the UK are appalled by this behaviour. Ordinary citizens see through the lies and reject the hate. We know that violence, fascism, and bigotry do not define who we are.
Britain is stronger than this. Hate will not define us. 🇬🇧
