Access to justice/legal aid is so important to ensure everyone gets fair chance to represent themselves The Tories have drastically reduced the scope of legal aid, introducing employment tribunal fees, and closing courts have meant that many people can no longer afford to assert their rights, to ensure those who have done wrong are held to account. Labour will review the legal aid means tests, including the capital test for those on income-related benefits. Labour will also consider the reinstatement of other legal aid entitlements after receiving the final recommendations of the Access to Justice Commission led by Lord Bach. Everyone has the right to dignity at work. Where employees have been treated unfairly there must be an effective system to ensure that this mistreatment does not continue. The introduction of employment tribunal fees has led to a massive reduction in the number of people taking claims forward simply because they can no longer afford to pursue the justice they deserve. Labour in Government will stand up for workers by abolishing employment tribunal fees to ensure that all have proper access to justice. I want to thank you again for taking the time to write to me. As your candidate, I am grateful for every opportunity to hear from local residents and to set out my position to you. Ultimately, this General Election is a choice between a Labour Party who will stand up for the many and a Conservative Party which only looks after the privileged few, and I hope you will consider putting your trust in me, and in Labour.
